MY FEET ARE OFF THE GROUND...

Today, I got one of my coursework result and I was so sad I actually started crying because I was two marks away from a 1st class and I wanted that 1st class so badly. It's not because I'm so competitive I am crazy, it's because I like to push myself and I always wanna beat my best, if that makes any sense.

After crying for a while, I felt kinder bad because people got lower marks and I was here lamenting and I remembered the Bible verse that says 'in all things we should give thanks to God', so I did just that. I went on facebook and I found this note from Tyler Perry and I thought I'd share it with you beautiful people...

This morning I woke and was so frustrated about all the stuff I'm dealing with, trying to get this studio open. I was about to open my mouth and start complaining when I remembered something that happened to me about a year ago.

I was walking to my car and this woman who looked to be homeless started walking towards me. I'm ashamed to say this but I thought, "I don't feel like being hustled today." Then I got quickly convicted. I felt guilty so I started digging in my pocket for some money. As she got closer I noticed that she had the kindest eyes that I had ever seen. As I was reaching into my pocket she started to speak. I thought, "Here goes the sales pitch". She said "Excuse me sir, I need some shoes". Can you help me? My eyes filled with water because I remember being out on the streets and having only one pair of run over shoes. I was taken aback for a second.

I took her inside the studio and had my wardrobe people find shoes in her size. As she put the shoes on she started crying, praising God and thanking Jesus, and saying, "My feet are off the ground! My feet are off the ground!" Several of the wardrobe people started crying. I was crying. But I never forgot that, "My feet are off the ground!"

I thought, "Wow! All she wanted was some shoes." She quickly disappeared and never asked me for a dime. I realized that I still had the money in my hand so I went out looking for her. She was gone just that quick so I looked all around the neighborhood for her. I found her standing on a corner looking down at her shoes still crying. I was so touched I asked her how she had gotten homeless. She told me that she had AIDS and that she was waiting to get into a shelter. She said that her family had turned their backs on her and she had nowhere to go and that God would make a way for her. I said to myself, "He just did." Her faith and her praise moved me.

I took her to a nearby hotel and put her up until she was able to get on her feet. I had someone that worked for me to check on her from time to time and make sure that she had food and clothes. After about a month or so we lost touch but I never forgot her.

This past summer I was shooting "Daddy's Little Girls" and this woman walks up to me smiling. I didn't recognize her face but her eyes were familiar. She had on a really nice dress and her hair was done. It was her! She told me that the little help that I had given her changed her life. She was in a house now and doing very well.

I said all of that to say this. After I met this woman, every time I think about complaining and mumbling I remember, "My feet are off the ground!"

So I may not have gotten a 1st class, but my feet are off the ground and I am grateful to God...xx

PULL THE TRIGGER....

Yesterday, I had had enough (had had??? hmmm) Anyways, my braids were sooo boring and I was just tired so I took it out, relaxed my hair myself. I began weaving my hair, determined to fix it myself and still make it for my 10am lectures today. Lo and behold, an angel was sent my way. LOL. My friend came to visit and fixed my hair for me FREE OF CHARGE! Don't you just love friends? Anyways, I realize I'm rambling. PICTURE TIME!

I am a happy muppet whenever I get my hair done. I bleached and conditioned my weave a couple of days ago. This is the link to the bleach I used. I'll give the details of my hair below.

In other news, I've always like allwaaayysss wanted a tattoo, but my folks are not a big fan of it and I'd honestly rather skip the drama with them. So, I opted for the next best thing FAKE TATTOOS and I'm loving it for now :D What do you think?

Don't forget it's another school day for me :(

MY BEYONCE MOMENT!

So I got this Ikat print leggings a long time ago and I was afraid to rock such bold prints outside my room. Before today I had worn it just once but then I saw a picture of Beyonce in the exact leggings and I decided I would be brave enough to rock it today. LOL. I have to add that this a school day and I do not see the need for 'pancake' on my face on a school day, so excuse my 'almost bare face'. By the way, it's freezzziiinnnggg! and My hair is a bloody mess. It needs to be fixed ASAP!

WHY I CHOOSE TO GO UP THE HILL?

With a lot on my mind, I randomly realized that I feel less pain going down that hill that takes me to the bustop, than I do coming up. Life is easier when we are not moving forward. It's easier to stay on one spot or even worse to go down a hill. It's hard, really hard to go up a hill every day. Some days I wonder if it's worth it, and I stay in bed. But the reason why I choose to go up that hill almost every day is because I want a change. A better future for myself. I want to see and enjoy what's at the top of the hill. On my way to the top of the hill, I meet some really kind people and some days, some really awful people who just stare at me disapprovingly. Life isn't hard unless you're striving to be a better person...a better you. It's easy when all you do is sit at home everyday and don't waste your time with the hill, but at the same time you never move forward. When you decide to take a step forward, stop looking at the rear view mirror, life instantly becomes harder, but in the end, we all know HARD WORK & PERSEVERANCE PAYS. It's time to go up that hill again.

Have an amazing weekend guys. xo

TREND ALERT AT THE GOLDEN GLOBES!!!

Don't you just love award season? I mean I slept like a baby last night just thinking about award season..LOL. Anyways, let me just save this banter and get to the point. Last night, there were a few STAND OUT TRENDS but I'd only talk about two of my favourites

PASTEL COLOURS:
A large amount of the celebs were on trend with this. If you don't know pastel colours are really warm colours and the extremely light version of any colour. This was seen on most of the spring/summer collection 2012 and some of the celebs pulled it off quite well, others, not quite...
ANGELINA JOLIE
CHARLIZE THERON

BUSY PHILIPS
JESSICA BIEL

KATE BECKINSALE
KATE WINSLET
THE SHADES OF BLUE: Blue was also prominent last night. Who do you think wore it best?
EMILY DESCHANEL
HELEN MIRREN

BERNICE BEJO
FREIDA PINTO

JANE LYNCH
KELLY OSBOURNE

LAURA LINNEY
MICHELLE WILLIAMS

SOFIA VERGARA
TILDA SWINTON
THE 'LBD': I warn you, most of these dresses were in no way little...LOL. But the little black dress is and always will be a red carpet favourite
DEBRA MESSING
JULIANE MOORE

MAYA RUDOLPH

MILA KUNIS

MONICA BACCARIN
MY FAVOURITE LOOKS OF THE EVENING
DIANA AGRON

EMMA STONE

EVAN RACHEL WOOD

JESSICA ALBA

MARIA MENOUNSOS

SALMA HAYEK

OCTAVIA SPENCER
MY LEAST FAVOURITE LOOKS:
THIS OUTFIT DRASTICALLY AGED HER. IT DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR HER. IT WAS PAINFUL TO SEE HER IN IT. WHERE ARE HER BOOBS? WHERE IS EVERYTHING? *SIGGHH**

KYLE RICHARDS
THIS OUTFIT COULD HAVE BEEN LESS PAINFUL TO LOOK AT IF NOT FOR THAT HORRIFIC CHOKER. PEOPLE! LISTEN! ONE RIDICULOUS ACCESSORY CAN TAKE YOU LOOK FROM CLASSY TO TRASHY! THIS CHOKER CRAP DID THE TRICK!

There is plenty more to come from the award season and I cannot wait! Which was your favourite or least favourite looks? Let me know in the comments below. Have a good week guys!
Love from Tomilola. xo
