Ever ponder on how people get to the point of obesity? SIMPLE. They eat too much without exercising. They certainly don't watch what they eat on their way to obesity and when they finally get there, it's 10times harder to shed the excess weight.
Many of us have an obese spiritual life. We have so much passion for God and...everything else. We certainly don't watch what we eat. Eating God's Word and the world's word. Even worse we are not exercising the WORD we eat. We've held on so much to the verse that says 'faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God' [Rom 10:17]; that we forget the verse that says 'faith without works is DEAD' [James 2:26]
Why wouldn't we forget though? Like the obese people who order the whole MacDonalds with a diet coke; Christians with obese spiritual life order alot off the world's menu and alil from God's menu. We like to justify our state, so we can wallow in misery.
Wanna be healthy? Watch what you feed on. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. And, exercise ALOT. If obesity is such a big deal physically, imagine what it is like spiritually?
